RSS feeds and Newsreaders

As a nonuser of RSS feeds and newsreaders, this exercise has shown me the convenience of gathering all new information about my interests in one place. There will be a need for a major change in attitude required to become familiar with the use of this facility but it could be of great value in my personal usage of the internet information platform.

I can see that these technologies would be valuable to the library staff by allowing them to set up a collection matrix to gather information and follow the progress of development of any subject which would assist in answering questions from clients. The ability to use these and to train clients in their use would speed up the provision or dispersion of information available to everyone and reduce the workload of some areas, particularly research, within the library industry.
